What’s In Your Products? Are you getting questions about use of restricted and disclosable substances?
Summary: Need help identifying and reporting use of restricted substances used in your products, creating a chemical content database or completing customer forms? We can do it!
DCA has formalized a standard service offering to help companies respond to requests for product environmental information and material composition by providing assistance in obtaining and reporting chemical content information for your products. We call it Product Chemical Content Assessment (PCCA).
The Product Chemical Content Assessment Program is an assembly/product-level chemical content assessment (we have other services for collection of data across a company's entire part database) based on a component level audit of a customer’s Bill of Materials that enables customers to document the chemical content of their products.
The PCCA Service Deliverables include:
Product-targeted substance restriction and disclosure Compliance Assessment and BoM Scrub
DCA experts examine your Bill of Materials (BoM) and provide compliance feedback for each manufacturer’s part used in your product based on substance restrictions and disclosure requirements in your markets, such as EU RoHS, REACH, China RoHS, California, and so on. We identify non- compliant parts or disclosable aspects of parts, validate manufacturer part numbers and review lifecycle status to identify obsolete parts and those not recommended for new design.
Chemical Content Data and Source Documents
The PCCA Service delivers a part-by-part quantified listing of the chemical content of your product that allows you to determine compliance to global environmental compliance requirements. This information enables you to assess the impact of changes to environmental legislation, RoHS exemption changes, customer-specific environmental compliance requirements and the impact of component process change notification(s) on your products. The following data is collected for each manufacturer’s part:
Note: Best available data is used to determine chemical content. Some manufacturers will not provide full material disclosure for their parts.
Customer-Required Environmental Disclosure Documents
If your company sells assemblies, modules, or complete systems to many electronics manufacturers like IBM, HP, Fujitsu, Motorola, Nokia, and others you're required to complete their custom environmental disclosure documents. These are often extremely detailed, requiring data you may not have or may not have stored or managed coherently. Completing them is a time-consuming process as well. As part of the PCCA service, DCA will complete these forms for you. Examples of customer required disclosure reporting forms are:
RoHS Declarations
Corporate Product Content Declaration forms (e.g., IBM PCD)
WEEE Forms
China RoHS Declaration Table
JGPSSI Forms
Japan Article Management Promotion (JAMP) Forms
REACH SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) table
DCA, in conjunction with our data partners, provides our clients with current data (where needed; we can use information you already have), and offloads the tasks of analysis and form completion from you. We provide a complete package, including deliverables to your customers, explanatory notes to help you intelligently respond to the request, and backup/due diligence data as collected. DCA's PCCA Program is available immediately. Contact us for more information.
